Akayuki (Red Snow)--Missing Scene Part 3
Warning: The following contains references to violence and death. Reader discretion is advised.
Author's Note: This is where I am going to have to stop until I write some more of this saga. I have one more Akayuki piece ready--a story about Michael's past with Annie. And the identity of Nica's dead lover--the Masked Ronin imposter--is revealed this chapter. Did you guess right or did I surprise you? I don't like him. My Michael definitely doesn't like him for reasons other than being one of his impersonations. That's jealousy, Michael.

The real Masked Ronin left bodies in the Red Light District overnight.
Two Akayuki foot soldiers and the prostitute they had paid for the night.
Nica watches me as Ren reads the report from the main house.
I keep my expression blank, like a mask.
Once we’re alone, Nica questions me.
“Why didn’t you kill me instead?”
I stare at her.
“Why did you murder the prostitute?” She muses for a moment. “Did she see your face?”
I shake my head.
“Then why?”
I look out the window.
Nica sighs.

Foley shows up at the summer house after lunch.
“Nica-sama. The cremation is complete. Did you want to pay your respects before we turned the remains over to Malcolm’s family?”
I frown.
Foley eyes Nica like I used to witness children eyeing the display case of sweets Annie made fresh every day for the tea house. I long to shoo him out of the summer house like I shooed those kids away.
Nica ignores Foley and remains focused on the open book in her hands.
“No. I will mourn privately. Send my condolences to his family.”
“You would look lovely in your funeral kimono.” Foley takes a step forward.
I rise from my corner, sword drawn, and stand between him and Nica.
Foley stares at me, startled and terrified then annoyed.
“Michael,” Nica says behind me. Chastising.
I remain standing there, waiting for Foley to move so I can cut him down.
“Foley, please go,” Nica orders.
“Learn to better control your dog, Nica-sama.” Foley takes two steps back, wary of me, before turning and exiting the room.
I want to go after him.
“Michael,” Nica says, interrupting my dark plans for Foley. “Let’s go visit Freddy.”
I sheath my katana.
